Derry Brothers Shipping are leading booking agents for the shipping industry specialising in freight bookings.

In early 2017, they asked us to tender for the development of a new mobile app, which would allow their users to make bookings on the go. However, after detailed discussions with the team at Derry Bros we soon realised we could make a bigger impact on their business. This ultimately saw them commission a digital transformation project, which included: iOS and Android app, web-based management system, API integration with shipping operators and an extension of legacy web portal for booking.

OBJECTIVES

Derry Bros Shipping were aware they were actively losing business to their competitors as they provided their customers with the ability to book via a mobile app.

Therefore, they decided to fully overhaul their booking process to help them to achieve the following objectives: Improve booking capacity, improve customer experience, speed up overall booking process, expand the capabilities of their pre-existing platform and development of a mobile app. Ultimately, Derry Bros Shipping had a desire to bring their service offering in line with their competitors to help grow their business and build a strong foundation for them to move forward with over the coming months and years.

THE OUTCOME

Derry Brothers Shipping have a mobile app for iOS and Android, a fully mobile responsive / content managed marketing website and an extended legacy platform that has allowed them to achieve some impressive results.

They have seen a +20% increase in revenue, the app outperforms their telesales team by +120% and they have reduced staffing costs by -20% (staff reallocation). We continue to work with Derry Bros Shipping to help improve on their KPI’s.

With the app delivered and live in both stores, our attention is now focussed on improving the transaction time to confirm bookings with shipping operators by automating this process and in turn reducing the number of support hours needed to cope with bookings. All of this should allow for a huge increase in their capacity to take new bookings and enquiries on a daily basis.
